Sony Vaio wireless network switch issues after windows 10 creators update SOLVED

Wireless switch not working after Windows 10 update

After installing the Windows 10 creators update the switch for turning on WIFI in front of my VGN-FW series did not function anymore. The green light did not lit up after putting it in the on position.
Even going to Windows/Settings/Wifi and turning WIFI on was no help either. It just went in the off position after a while again.

Looking and trying at the various solutions on different newgroups, like removing the battery and the like, nothing worked for me.

What eventually worked for me was:

  1. removing all Intel wireless software listed in the add/remove program and reboot computer.
  2. Right click the Windows button and select Device Manager.
  3. Open the network adapters arrow.
  4. go to View/Show hidden devices.
  5. delete the two bluetooth entries and 5100 AGN wifi entry.
  6. Reboot your computer.
  7. Download the VAIO Smart Network (this software was not on my computer anymore). You can get it here: Sony Vaio Smart Network . Ignore the title that it is for Windows 7. Just download and install.
  8. This software wil ask to reboot your computer to complete installation
  9. After reboot (see that the WIFI switch on your pc is still in the ON position).
  10. After restart you will see a floating dock on top of your screen. Normally you'll have green lights for your LAN and Bluetooth, but not for your WIFI (yet).
  11. Go to Windows/Settings/WIFI and put it in the ON position.
  12. Normally you should now see a green light on the floating dock and also next to the manual wireless switch on your pc.
  13. If the floating dock bothers you, you can turn it of by right clicking the  double arrow icon on the right side of the windows taskbar (the up arrow key to show hidden icons).

It worked for me, so I really wish it will also work for you. Good luck!
